As new cases of the coronavirus continue to
grow in number, one art fair is moving forward with its plan to host an in-person
event in New York in the spring.
Frieze New York has announced the 66
galleries more than 60 of the world’s leading galleries that will participate
in its upcoming edition. Opening May 7-9 (Preview May 5-6), Frieze New York
takes place at The Shed in Manhattan in the Hudson Yards development, alongside
Frieze Viewing Room and an anchor program of talks and special projects. The
fair will be accompanied by an expanded program of collaborations, special
projects and talks. Other art fairs have so far delayed providing more details
about upcoming editions in 2021, other than Expo Chicago, which earlier this
week announced that it is postponing its April dates until at least July.
Frieze Viewing Room will run alongside
Frieze New York at The Shed and benefit from enhanced digital functionality,
reaching a global online audience and those that might not be able to travel to
New York.
“I am proud that Frieze New York continues
to be innovative and community driven, qualities that will be reflected in our 2021
programming,” said the Frieze New York Director of Programming Loring Randolph.
